Brussels is now intervening in the dispute between the government and president in Romania which has been going on for weeks. After the Romanian parliament initiated impeachment proceedings against head of state Traian Băsescu last week, Prime Minister Victor Ponta has been meeting with EU representatives for crisis talks since Wednesday. Commentators express relief that  Brussels is finally taking action but stress that Bucharest is not the only country with democracy issues.
