Haravgi - Cyprus | Monday, June 29, 2009Opening of a border crossing in Cyprus brings hope
After several months of talks, leaders of the Greek and Turkish Cypriots have decided to open a border crossing at Limnitis. The pro-government paper Haravgi comments: "You could describe this decision as another hole in the wall that divides our homeland. It constitutes a small step in the right direction, one that gives hope to all those who wish peace and prosperity for Cyprus. ... This crossing has been closed for 45 years - far longer than the Turkish invasion. For that reason, even if this step is small it has enormous significance. This development sends a clear message, especially to those whose statements and acts lead away from a solution [to the Cyprus question]. And to all those who play Cassandra and only react when there's a positive development."
