The future of Iraq still uncertain

Under the provisions of an agreement between the US and Iraq US soldiers are to have withdrawn from Iraqi cities and villages to their military bases outside of Iraqi communities by today, Tuesday. The daily Politiken writes: "The sad truth is that Iraq has disappeared from our consciousness because on the one hand the difficult and complex situation is far from meeting the expectations of those who support the war and on the other hand Iraq can no longer be used to attack the US, which under its new president has taken the necessary steps and left Iraq to the Iraqis. Perhaps it would be a good idea if we left it to Iraq's historians to make the historical assessment."
